Whiplash : 채찍질, (특히 자동차 사고로 인한) 목뼈 손상, (갑작스런/급진적/과격한) 예기치 않은 변화[움직임], (마치 재찍질 하는 것 처럼  갑작스럽게) 때리다, 치다, 강타하다, 피해를 입히다, 강타

a whip is a stick with a piece of leather or a piece of rope on the end that you use to beat an animal
a whiplash, the basic meaning is a lash, a stroke of whip
the lash of a whip

now most commonly you will find this word whiplash talking about car accidents
when you are in a car and you crash intoo something, there is a very suden deceleration and your head goes forward and then it goes back suddenly. that is whiplash, this cause an injury to the neck
