Hyundai Engineering CEO Hong Hyeon-sung apologized Friday after tens of thousands of defects were found in the new apartment complex the company built in Muan County, South Jeolla Province.

Hillstate Oryong, built in the southwestern coastal region of the country, has 800 in 12 buildings that are as high as 24 stories tall. The shoddy construction went viral as the victims shared photos of the hazards online. Hong visited the complex Thursday and met the victims to apologize. According to a post on an online community, each suite had an average of 150 to 200 defects.
