it is normally associated with schizophrenia but if somebody is catatonic they can't move and speak and do anything
that in itself is very technical use

use this informally, to say just totally unresponsive
we use this catatonic humorously quite often
a rabbit in the headlights of a car at night, it just freezes and you can say that a rabbit is catatonic
to say that somebody was increadibly drunk, we were absolutely catatonic last night
so drunk, you couldn't move
he was in a catatonic state
he was catatanic with happiness
when I discovered that he'd crashed my car, I was catatonic, absolutely speechless
I've eaten so much food so I lay catatonic on the sofa and unable to move

to mean that somebody's very very tired, they're so exhausted that they can hardly move

they are stiff, don't move, don't react and dont' say anything at all
