We use this to be critical to somebody

to say stop being so boring, stop being so annoying, stop being so nosy and concern yourself with your own life

you shouldn't be so nosy

start living a fuller or more interesting existence 

go get a life

Someone who's always focusing on unimportant things, they need to go get a life

Somebody who spends their days watching daytime television about gossip, they need to just go and get a life

To finid that their own interesting things to do
