625. Dexterity - IELTS Vocabulary - Dexterity / Dextrous / Dexterous

Dexterity : (손이나 머리를 쓰는) 재주
Dexterous : 손재주가 비상한, 솜씨 좋은
Dextrous : 손재주가 비상한, 솜씨 좋은
Dexterously : 솜씨좋게, 능숙하게, 손재주가 비상하게

if somebody is dexerous, they have the ability to skillfully do things that are difficult with their hands
you skill using your hand, your body or your mind, all three are valid
it's talking about skill
having a knack of doing things
being very neat and nimble particularly with your hands

dexterous, very well, very agilely, very nimble, particularly with the hands

 

notice, the British spell it 'dextrous', the American spell it 'dexterous'

 

 

2)

with great dexterity 

great manual dexterity
you are very agile with your hands
a pianist has great manual dexterity
a guitar player has great manual dexterity
a good writer or a good poet will have dexterity with writing
dexterity, the first meaning is with the hands

you need dexterity to use chopsticks

a magician needs great dexterity to do the magic tricks, to do the sleight of the hand
if you play computer games, it can help your manual dexterity 
ambidextrous is somebody who can use both their right and their left

but you could have physical dexterity
a footballer is very dexterous, he has dexterity with his feet

a child may lack the dexterity to do this properly  
it's physical skill

you could have mental dexterity. mental skill or quickness, you can work things out very easily

I think one needs mental dexterity to speak a language well and practice
