they are soldiers of the king and his family
there are effectively a military group who are in charge of the safety of the king and the king's family

In the US, you coud use a yeoman as well, to talk about somebody who is a stalward worker
somebody who is dependable, loyal
they've gone great serviec over a very long time
in British English, I wouldn't use it like that (in British the use of phrase 'yeoman service' is very common)
